Stateside Associates is seeking a motivated, high-energy Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our Business Development team in Arlington, VA (Rosslyn). As the nation’s largest state and local government relations firm, we are looking for a true hunter who thrives on the "top-of-funnel" sales activities.
This is not an account management role; you will not be responsible for long-term client maintenance, nor will it have any supervisory responsibilities. Instead, your success is defined by your ability to actively seek out, connect with, and qualify potential lead sources to kickstart the sales cycle. We are looking for a coachable, lower to mid-level professional who is hungry to generate leads and motivated by the "small wins"—like identifying a high-value prospect or tracking down the right contact information. You will report to the Vice President of Business Development and play a critical role in the firm’s growth by setting the stage for our internal experts to close deals.
The salary range for Business Development Representative is $80,000 - $100,000, plus incentives based on lead conversions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Aggressive Prospecting: Actively identify and source prospective clientele through industry research, trend monitoring, and current events.
- Lead Generation & Outreach: High-volume outreach to connect with potential leads and qualify them for the sales pipeline.
- Appointment Setting: Successfully schedule discovery calls and meetings, strategically "pulling in" Stateside’s internal experts to lead the technical sales conversation.
- Data Mining (The "Small Wins"): Take pride in the foundational work of sales—finding the right phone numbers, email addresses, and organizational structures for target accounts.
- KPI Driven: Maintain a high level of activity and initiative to meet and exceed established weekly and monthly key performance indicators (KPIs).
- CRM Management: Diligently track the prospect journey in our CRM (HubSpot/Monday.com) to ensure no lead falls through the cracks.
YOUR EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant sales experience (Lead Generation, SDR, or BDR experience preferred).
- Education: A four-year degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Coachability: A strong desire to learn, receive feedback, and refine your sales craft.
- Motivation: Driven by the hunt and achieving activity metrics; you find satisfaction in the process of discovery.
- Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the "savvy" required for interpersonal engagement.
- Tech Savvy: Working knowledge of CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.) and proficiency in Microsoft Office/Teams and Google Workspace.
