Stefani Millie helped clients prepare for the upcoming National Conference of State Legislatures’ Legislative Summit. Michael Behm prepared a state relationship building plan for a client. Steve Arthur attended the Conference of Western Attorneys General Annual Meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico on behalf of clients. Robert Holden addressed federal health care reform implementation on behalf of clients at an interim meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors will meet July 29 to consider responding to a report on childhood obesity. Josh Veverka at jmv@stateside.com  

COLORADO

The Department of Higher Education will hold a public hearing July 27 to discuss proposed rules related to private occupational schools and reporting of graduate data. Erin Nugent at een@stateside.com  

GEORGIA

The Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians will hold its first meeting July 28. The Council was established to conduct a thorough study of the state’s current revenue structure and recommend legislation during the 2011 legislative session. John Grant at jhg@stateside.com  

MARYLAND

The Board of Pharmacy’s Practice Committee will meet July 28 to review a drafted rule regarding home infusion pharmacy services. Mark Brook at mb@stateside.com

MASSACHUSETTS

The Department of Environmental Protection will hold public hearings July 27 and 29 on a draft solid waste master plan. Becky Lukaesko at bml@stateside.com  

MICHIGAN

The House New Economy and Quality of Life Committee will meet July 28 to discuss H.B. 6242, which creates the Michigan New Economy Commission. David Walker at daw@stateside.com  

MINNESOTA

The House Health Care and Human Services Policy Oversight Committee will meet July 29 to hold a discussion on health care administration, lead by the Department of Human Services. Katie Boyer at kbb@stateside.com  

NEW YORK

The Legislature will meet in special session on July 28 to complete work on the overdue state budget. Anastasia Feaster at arf@stateside.com  

OKLAHOMA

A primary election will be held July 27 to select nominees for the office of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State Auditor and Inspector, Attorney General, Treasurer, Superintendant of Public Instruction, Commissioner of Labor and Insurance Commissioner. PENNSYLVANIA

The State Board of Medicine will meet July 27. The agenda includes a discussion of the role of professionalism and self-regulation in detecting impaired or incompetent physicians. Robert Axelrod at ra@stateside.com  

The Senate Transportation Committee will have a series of public hearings July 28 to discuss a variety of statewide transportation issues including turnpike financing and transportation funding. Megan Kueck mbk@stateside.com  

TEXAS

The House Business and Industry Committee will hold a joint public hearing with the House Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee July 29 on third party liability issues involving workers’ compensation. Carly Simpson at cms@stateside.com  

The El Paso City Council will meet July 29 to consider an animal control ordinance regulating kennels and the sale of animals. Josh Veverka at jmv@stateside.com  

WASHINGTON

MARK ANDERSON MODERATES ABA PANELS ON LOBBYING

Mark Anderson will chair and moderate two CLE sessions at the upcoming American Bar Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco. WINNING STATE CONTRACTS TELECONFERENCE

Stateside Associates President Connie Campanella offered advice about winning state government contracts during a Public Affairs Council seminar. Joining Connie was Karen A. Confoy of Sterns & Weinroth in New Jersey and Jim Daughton of Metz, Husband and Daughton in Florida.  Topics included the different models used to support public sector sales, collaboration with government affairs, preparing for the possibility of litigation and legal compliance, including "pay to play" laws.
