Groups Take On Growth Management
Are they predictors of emerging issues or mirrors of current interests?
The Groups are probably both and their embrace of "growth management"
as a topic is a prime example. This year, nearly every state and
local Group has considered the issue of growth management. From
hosting discussions to adopting policy positions, the approaches
vary as much as their impact on public policy.
Growth management, also called anti-sprawl or smart growth, is
a label attached to a variety of public policy initiatives predicated
on controlling development. It serves as an excellent example of
how the Groups address issues. The list below captures the Groups'
growth management activities to date.
