REPUBLICANS WIN BOTH GOVERNOR RACES

Republican Chris Christie upset incumbent Democratic Governor Jon Corzine to win the New Jersey Governor's race.

Republican Bob McDonnell recaptured the Governorship of Virginia.  McDonnell is the first Republican elected Governor since 1997. 

Ken Cuccinelli (R) has been elected Attorney General of Virginia and Bill Bolling (R) won another term as Lt. Governor. 

REPUBLICANS PICK UP 6 SEATS IN VIRGINIA HOUSE OF DELEGATES

Virginia Republicans appear to have picked up six seats in the House of Delegates, bringing their majority to 59-39-2.  The 2 Independents  caucus with the Republicans. 

REPUBLICANS GAIN ONE ASSEMBLY SEAT IN NEW JERSEY
 
With one race still too close to call, Republicans may have picked up one seat in the New Jersey Assembly. 
 
The New Jersey Senate had two special elections. The Democrats and Republicans each won a seat, which does not change the partisan split in the Senate.
